Develop your understanding of automatic fire suppression systems, exploring a range of technologies, their key features, applications and limitations. The course will help learners consider when different suppression systems may be appropriate and how to assess the potential risks, benefits and design considerations associated with their use.
Title: Level 05 Award in Design of Automatic Fire Suppression Systems
Duration: 2.5 days plus post-course assessment
Cost: £675 + VAT
Qualification Code: H/651/9144
Teaching Method: In-person at our Preston Training Academy
Assessment Method: Post course assignments will follow each unit.
Location: Preston
On successful completion of this course, learner will:
Learners will strengthen their familiarity with relevant British Standards and fire safety design guidance, including BS EN 12845 and BS 9251, and consider how these standards influence the selection and design of suppression systems.
A key element of the course will be the practical application of hydraulic calculations. Learners will work through realistic building scenarios to develop their understanding of the principles behind hydraulic design and gain confidence in applying appropriate calculation methods. Through worked examples, technical input and scenario-based activities, learners will have the opportunity to connect the requirements of relevant standards with practical fire engineering design decisions.
By the end of the course, learners will have a clearer understanding of the range of automatic suppression systems available, where they may be suitable, their limitations, and how hydraulic calculations support effective system design.
This course is aimed at those who are entering the fire engineering profession and are working towards professional status. Also suitable for building control officers, approved inspectors, fire risk assessors, surveyors, architects and other fire safety professionals.
No formal entry requirements although a Level 04 or above qualification in a relevant subject would be advantageous. Learners must be proficient in the use of the English language.
