Level 05 Certificate in Fire Risk Assessment

This course requires learners to demonstrate the application of advanced fire safety principles and will addresses the following content:

• Requirements when life safety risks are intolerable.
• Strategic fire safety planning principles.
• External wall systems, risks and (FRAEW) Fire Risk Appraisal of External Wall triggers. 
• Smoke control and suppression systems.
• Socio-economic constraints on fire safety interventions.
• Legal and regulatory obligations for complex premises.
• Fire strategies and performance-based approaches.
• System interaction, impairment management and digital dependencies.
• Fire safety regulations, operational duties, governance in higher-risk residential building (HRBs) and golden thread.
• Resident engagement and risk communication in HRBs.
• Safety Systems for the protection of firefighters and Persons with restricted mobility.
• Defend-in-place/phased strategies and shared-space management.
• Fire Risk Assessment for HRB residential/mixed-use premises.

Suitable for experienced fire risk assessors with access to high-risk residential/mixed-use premises which require more complex solutions to achieving a safe and compliant environment. May also be appropriate for those acting as Lead Fire Risk Assessor or working towards BAFE SP205 registration.

Learners should hold a relevant fire risk assessment qualification at Level 04, and/or have substantial recent experience independently conducting fire risk assessments across a range of premises types. All learners will need to provide evidence of training and recent professional practice as part of the application process.

Candidates must also have access to suitable premises to allow them to gather the evidence requirements of this qualification specification.
